- This was a preeeetty miserable week. I still had symptoms from being sick AND I got my girlfriend sick. I’m doing better today though!
- Watched “It’s Winnie the fucking Pooh, bitch. Fuck fourth of July” as is tradition.
- I added some NEW OCs to Art Fight!!! I reeeaaally wanted to fill in the remainder of my team card, so I finally made some art of these two.
- In the middle of running errands yesterday, I got caught in a quick but intense summer storm. After the overwhelming heat we’ve had here, it was nice to have some rain. It looked beautiful outside after the storm was over, with the light from the sun reflecting off of all the raindrops.
- I’m allllmost done with Shadow of the Colossus and trying to figure out what to play next. I think I’m going to try some shorter indie titles before jumping into something more long-term. For long-term picks: I’m thinking Elden Ring, Alan Wake, or Fire Emblem Fates (I bought a copy of FEF:Conquest last year).
One Month Website Retrospective
I’ve had this site up for about one month now and have some thoughts on what is and isn’t working for me. The good news: I did manage to make at least one blog post per week! Most of these were just low-effort “life log” posts, and that’s okay—I look forward to writing about my week and sharing random things I found, and I like having something small and routine to remind me to keep this site up-to-date.
The “now” page has had an interesting effect on me. I sometimes pick up media and then have a hard time sticking with it, or get distracted and move on to something else, and putting something on my “now” page has made me more likely to stick with it. Liiike… Shadow of the Colossus, for example, which I almost gave up on. ^^’ I also noticed that I’ve had Divine Right on my now page for the entire month because I keep reading it on my kindle before bed and get sleepy before I can finish like 10 pages. I read more of it this weekend during daylight hours.
Something that didn’t work: I was hoping to make some “media log” posts, but never posted any of my drafts. These are posts where I’ll talk about the media I’ve been reading, watching, and playing, in part so that I can share what I recommend or don’t recommend to anyone who comes across this blog, but I also want to document my thoughts and feelings on the media so I can reference it later. I realized on reflection that I wasn’t really sure how to structure these kinds of posts. Sometimes I’ll have nothing to say—the thing was good or bad, would or wouldn’t recommend, that’s it—and other times I’ll have a 10 page essay to share. I decided to forego any kind of consistency with the format of these posts and just do whatever feels right going forward, so hopefully some of those drafts will be up soon.
It’s been really fun designing and building my own website!! I really love how it turned out and I’m excited to see it grow!

- TEASER FOR THE GUY SHE WAS INTERESTED IN WASN’T A GUY AT ALL ANIME!!!!! and they could afford to license NIRVANA for it???? Absolutely insane. I’m so fucking excited.
- I’ve been going through my saved RSS articles backlog and read about The Beggar’s Opera (also on Wikipedia here). Made in the 1720s in England, this satirical opera defied operatic standards of the time by using familiar music (folk tunes, church hymns, and popular arias from other operas) instead of following the Italian opera style, and the plot addressed political corruption, poverty, and other taboo topics. I always love reading about how people reacted to controversial art from centuries ago, and what was considered risqué for the time.
